100 drivers charged this weekend

Traffic police don’t need a long weekend to stay busy on the roads.

The Alberta Integrated Traffic Unit patrolled highways 63, 881 and 69 this weekend, along with local roads.

A 37-year-old man and 18-year-old man were charged with impaired driving. Police issued four other drug and alcohol related suspensions. Officers say six drivers were caught speeding more than 50 kilometres over the limit. They all have court dates and face suspensions and expensive fines.

The alleged speeders include a 38-year-old woman riding a motorcycle who was stopped in Beacon Hill after riding 131 km/h in a 70 zone. Police also point to a report of a 39-year-old man speeding at 120 km/h in a 50 zone. He was stopped 30 km north of Fort McMurray.
