Men charged in abduction from strip club parking lot

Investigators are releasing more details about an abduction that happened outside Showgirls early Monday morning.

Wood Buffalo RCMP confirmed that day that  an 18-year-old woman was kidnapped at about 12:45 a.m. Police say the victim and a 21-year-old man were approached by two men, an altercation started and the man was pulled out of the vehicle.

Reports say one suspect told the woman to drive away. Police caught up with them near the TaigaNova intersection about an hour later. The officer who stopped them walked up to the passenger side of the vehicle and was allegedly assaulted while trying to make an arrest.

“Although the involved were not known to each other, police believe that this is an isolated incident as drugs were a factor. There is no threat to the safety to of the general public,” RCMP says in a news release.

Someone driving by saw what was happening and stopped to help the officer. Troy Kreiger, 45, of Fort McMurray was charged with several offences including assaulting a police officer. Bryan Ethier, 28 of Fort McMurray, is charged with assault. Both men are in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26, 2014.
