United Way encouraged people to check their phones to find out how much money it raised this year.
The organization updated the public on its annual fall campaign with a gathering yesterday. Participants used a new app to see the group has raised $6.8 million so far.
This is an exciting day for us,” said Executive Director Diane Shannon, in a news release. “We have made huge progress on the campaign and we have new tools to make connecting with the United Way easier than ever before.
The app is available on Blackberry and Androids for now. The group is also working on getting the app available on iPhones.
There’s two weeks left in the United Way’s campaign.
