A young girl will be laid to rest in Fort Chipewyan tomorrow, after she took her own life.
CBC reports the Grade 8 student at Athabasca Delta Community School died by suicide. The report says some people say the girl was a target of bullying.
In an interview with CBC, the Northland School Division says its superintendent and extra counsellors flew into the community just days after the death.
The Athabasca Delta School is hosting a Sacred Circle of Grief and Loss tomorrow at 1 p.m. “to provide the space for healing and support related to the recent loss in out community of Fort Chipewyan.”
A request for comment has been made to school officials.
