The RMWB’s books are in place for 2015 after council passed a $500 million operating budget.
After passing the capital budget last Tuesday, council held its last meeting before the holiday break yesterday. A highlight for Mayor Melissa Blake was upholding a promise to keep taxes where they are.
“Most communities are looking at anywhere from 2.5 to five per cent increase at their tax rate. Wood Buffalo-Fort McMurray is not looking at an increase in the budget […] so we’re well in hand for keeping the line in taxes,” she said.
The budget also includes funding for 20 new members for the Wood Buffalo RCMP and 14 new members of region’s firefighter-EMS crew.
