Public members sought for Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee

Applications are now open for the Wood Buffalo Recovery Committee which consists of three Councillors who have already been appointed by Council, the Mayor as an ex officio member, and up to six members of the public at large who have yet to be appointed.

The general mandate of the Committee is to exercise “policy and governance oversight with respect to the Recovery Task Force” with specific areas of responsibility.

The Recovery Task Force will be made up of as many as 80 staff members at the RMWB and is charged with consulting with and working with a broad range of stakeholders “in order to decide upon and execute measures to ensure that the Municipality and its residents will be well established on a path to recovery from the devastation caused by the Wildfire in the shortest time practicable having regard to the magnitude of the task.”
