Feedback sought on 2018 Alberta Winter Games

The RMWB is asking for your feedback on the 2018 Alberta Winter Games as they assess the wildfire impact affecting the community and recreation facilities required for the 2018 Alberta Winter Games.

This comes after a June 8 decision by council to have administration work with the Alberta Winter Games Board of Directors to review what would need to be done to ready the community for hosting the games.

“While our top priority is the continued recovery of the region as we work alongside residents that lost their homes, we are also in the process of reviewing municipal programs and services that may be impacted by the wildfire.” the RMWB said in a release.

“We understand the region is overcoming many challenges at this time and we are here to support you,” said Mohamed Salem Co-Chair of the Alberta Winter Games Board of Directors. “We want to hear from residents and our many partners to see if timelines to host the 2018 Alberta Winter Games are suitable, if we will be ready, if we will have the volunteer, community and business support we need.”

Residents are invited to a public engagement session on Wednesday, July 6 at McMurray Experience from 3 – 7 p.m. An online survey is also available rmwb.ca/albertawintergames. This feedback will be used to help prepare a recommendation for the best possible outcome for the community in respect to the 2018 Alberta Winter Games.
