B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 16 cents, or 4.20 per cent, to $3.65 on 8.5 million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down 21 cents, or 2.83 per cent, to $7.22 on 8.2 million shares.

First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (TSX:FM). Miner. Up eight cents, or 0.88 per cent, to $9.21 on eight million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 42 cents, or 5.65 per cent, to $7.02 on 7.4 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 29 cents, or 2.92 per cent, to $9.65 on 6.1 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 24 cents, or 3.16 per cent, to $7.36 on 5.9 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Postmedia Network Canada Corp. (TSX:PNC.B). Media. Up 1.5 cents, or 100 per cent, to three cents on 620,033 shares. Postmedia announced a proposal Thursday that will slash its $648-million debt by nearly half and give its lenders shares in the company in exchange. The company says if approved the deal will reduce its debt by $307 million and save it roughly $50 million a year in interest. Under the plan, Postmedia’s second lien debt holders will exchange what they are owed — roughly $345 million — for a 98 per cent take in the company, leaving current shareholders with just two per cent.
