RMWB reminds residents on how to dispose of appliances

If you still have an appliance you’d like to get rid of, there are several ways to do so.

The RMWB is reminding residents that the “white goods” pick-up program coordinated by the Insurance Bureau of Canada wrapped up at the end of June.

Curbside pick-up is now over for large appliances such as fridges and freezers.

If you are insured and still have an appliance you’d like to get rid of, you are asked to speak with your insurer before disposing it. If you are uninsured, it is your responsibility to take the appliance to the landfill.

The municipal landfill is currently operating under extended hours as part of the recovery effort. The landfill is open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily.

All waste brought to the landfill by personal vehicles throughout the month of July will have their tipping fees waived.

The municipality is also asking residents to report any illegal dumping to the Municipal Law Enforcement Complaints Line at 780-788-4200.
