NEW YORK, N.Y. – Authors Jason Gay, Harrison Scott Key and Mary Norris have been named finalists for the 2016 Thurber Prize for American Humor.

Gay was cited for “Little Victories,” his book about family and fatherhood; Key was noted for his memoir about his father, “The World’s Largest Man;” and Norris, a longtime editor at the New Yorker magazine, was nominated for her book “Between You & Me: Confessions of a Comma Queen.”

The winner, who will receive a $5,000 prize, will be announced Sept. 26.

The Ohio-based award, established in 1996, is named for the late humorist James Thurber. It has been won by Jon Stewart, David Sedaris and Julie Schumacher. This year’s judges are John Kenney, Celia Rivenbark and Bruce Tracy.
