Last Updated Aug 30, 2016 at 10:38 am MDT

Two people have been killed in a four-vehicle collision on Highway 63 southbound at the entrance of Fort McKay.

RCMP said Tuesday morning both victims were men born in 1989 and 1991. Their names will not be released because their families and friends are still being notified of their passing.

Wood Buffalo RCMP and emergency crews responded to the crash Monday afternoon between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

The HERO 1 Helicopter was dispatched at 3:23 p.m.

The RCMP said in addition to the two deaths another driver, also a man, was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. He has been treated for those injuries and released from care.

A fourth driver involved was not injured.

All four vehicles were occupied only by the drivers.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours but have since been re-opened to all traffic.
