CAREERS: The Next Generation announced a campaign in support of rebuilding our community and creating a promising future for young people.

The campaign is called “Rebuilding Fort McMurray Creating Youth Futures” and the goal is to raise one-million dollars through an online fundraiser, to expand current programming and internship opportunities.

Eric Newell, former CEO of Syncrude and Chair of CAREERS: The Next Generation kicked off the campaign by giving the foundation a gift of $100,000.

As of this morning, the campaign has just over $300,000 raised.

“I challenge the industry and business owners to take a chance on the youth in the community, there is no greater feeling than giving someone their first job,” said retired Syncrude President, Jim Carter.

The rebuild of our community will offer young people a real opportunity to pursue a career in trades and/or technologies.
