Tony Awards show sets key dates for '17, but still no home

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Tony Awards will be held on June 11 next year, but where the ceremony will be held is still up in the air.

The Broadway League on Tuesday set the date for the ceremony and put the official eligibility cut-off date as April 27. Nominations will be announced live on May 2.

But the location of the big show is still up in the air. Last year, organizers went back to the Beacon Theatre on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

The 6,000-seat Radio City Music Hall has for years been the preferred home for the awards because of its size and proximity to Broadway. But MSG Entertainment used Radio City for its “The New York Spectacular” and hopes to keep it an annual event.

CBS will again televise the event.
