Residents will now be able to view and monitor permitting and new construction activities in their neighbourhoods through a mobile-friendly tool.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) has launched “Wood Buffalo Civic Insight” which will allow residents to view detailed permitting, demolition and construction progress, including dates and the status of permits (i.e. applied, reviewed, issued, inspected or finalized.)

All you will have to do is input a street name, an address or by clicking on an address. The tool also provides workflow checks each month in addition to daily, weekly and monthly permit volumes.

“It’s essential that the required permits are obtained for any work being completed,” said Damon McGillivray, Safety Codes Manager. “Safety Codes permits are a critical component of the construction process that ensures homes in our community are built safely. This resource will not only allows residents to track the rebuild process in their neighbourhood, but will also allow them to hold their neighbours accountable when it comes to the required permitting process.”

Residents can sign up for alerts, which offer up-to-date information about what’s happening with their property or properties in their neighbourhood. A comprehensive tour of the tool is available here.

Wood Buffalo Civic Insight has been developed to support current development and construction activities.

Some information on permit approvals prior to 2012 may be incomplete and you will need to contact Planning and Development to review the Property file.
