First annual Stuff-A-Bus for Wood Buffalo Food Bank

The RMWB is trying something new this fall to help meet the ever-growing need in our community for services offered through the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.

For the first time, they’ll be holding a Stuff-A-Bus campaign, challenging local schools, businesses, and industry to sign up and collect donations of non-perishable food and other necessities.

“We’re excited to start a new tradition to raise donations for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank,” said Robert Kirby, Director of Transit Services. “This year in particular has been extremely challenging for many families in our region, and the Stuff-A-Bus event is an opportunity to bring residents together by supporting friends and neighbours in the community.”

Companies and schools can register, print off posters and encourage everyone to get involved in bringing in donations.

Then, on Friday November 18th, the RMWB will send Transit buses out into the community to pick up the donations and stuff the buses. There will be opportunity for recognition of participating businesses, photos, social media, and much more. (You might even catch a glimpse of Santa and Mrs. Claus.)

The school with the most donations per capita will win a free three-hour charter bus provided by Municipal Transit Services. The winner will be able to plan an event for your school, and Municipal Transit Services will take care of the transportation.
