The Keyano College Huskies were a combined 8-3-1 over the weekend in womens and mens Basketball, Soccer and Volleyball.

The Husky mens soccer team which is getting ready to host the National Championships in early November were looking to finish their regular season undefeated but were shutout Saturday afternoon at the hands of the strong Concordia University Thunder. The loss was the Huskies first regular season loss since September 29th, of 2013.  The Huskies (9-1) then took on Kings University on Sunday and with the help of three goals and an assist by Rodrigo Koebsch, the Huskies were 5-0 winners. They will now travel to Medicine Hat to take part in the 2016-17 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Soccer Championship this weekend.

The lady Huskies ended their season with a 2-2 on Sunday against Kings University after losing 3-1 on Saturday. The lady Huskies finished the season with a winless 0-7-3 record.

In basketball, the lady Huskies improved their record to 3-1 winning their third game in a row when they swept Augustana College over the weekend winning 62-51 on Friday and 77-71 on Saturday. Aliyah Johnson led the Husky attack on Friday with 17 points thanks to a shooting percentage of 70 percent and both Tyshaine Paige and Moiyan Toure chipped in 16 points each in a comeback victory over the winless 0-4 Vikings.

Despite 21 points from Terence Crisostomo and 20 from Rami Ghanem the men were unable to climb back from a slow start as they fell to Augustana 71-63 on Saturday.  The Huskies were dominated in basically every statistical category including being outscored 48-28 in the paint. One night prior, the Huskies snuck past the Vikings with a 91-85 score. With the 1-1 weekend, the Huskies currently sit at 2-2 good enough for a log jammed tie for second in the North Division.

Both Husky basketball teams will now welcome the Concordia Thunder this weekend. Tip-offs are set for 6 pm and 8 pm on Friday while things get underway at 1 pm on Saturday with the men to follow at 3 pm.

Right here at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre, the mens volleyball team  put on a clinic en route to two straight 3-set wins over the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings.

Jakub Zdybek led the Huskies with nine points on Friday while in one his most dominant performances this season Alex Andryszewski recorded 12 kills and one service ace.

It took the lady Huskies nine sets overall in winning both of their matches this past weekend also against the Vikings.

On Friday,  Danya Nieman did her best impression of taking a game over as she notched 17 kills to go along with an impressive 7 aces. Paige Spoor also chipped in with 15 kills in the 3-2 win. Things were not as close on Saturday afternoon as Danya Nieman and Paige Spoor combined for 24 points including two stuff blocks from Nieman to cap off her highly impressive weekend. With the weekend sweep, the lady Huskies moved into a tie for second in the North Division.

Both volleyball teams will be on the road this weekend to take on the Grande Prairie Wolves. First serve is set for 6 and 8 pm on Friday with both teams taking to the court early on Saturday with 1 and 3 pm starts.
