Tzu Chi, a Vancouver-based Buddhist Compassion Relief Foundation collected money in support of the community and the post-wildfire recovery.

“I want to thank all our supporters, and volunteers who helped with the Fort McMurray wildfire donations – coin by coin, dollar by dollar. We’ve helped different countries around the world, but this help was needed in Canada, our home. We are happy to support the Fort McMurray Public School District,” said Mr. Mac Miao, Tzu Chi Canada’s Vice CEO.

Doug Nicholls, Superintendent, Fort McMurray Public School District, thanked the Foundation for its fantastic support.

“The incredible donation from Tzu Chi Canada will result in resources being available to either initiate or support seven “Leader in Me” sites in Fort McMurray Public Schools. The generosity of the Foundation will give our schools a clear focus on leadership and will build increased resiliency in our students, staff and parents.”

Based on seven habits, “Leader in Me” is designed to help teachers develop leadership skills in students.
