The load limit on the Fort Chipewyan Winter Load has been reduced to 5,000 KG until Sunday, February 19 at 10 p.m.
The load limit will be in effect during both daytime and nighttime hours to maintain the integrity of the Winter Road as we experience warmer than normal conditions.
The load limit will then be increased back to 45,000 KG on the 19 at 10 p.m. as the temperatures are expected to drop.
Empty trucks currently in Fort Chipewyan can return to the Fort McMurray area using the road on February 16, after 10 p.m.
All winter roads and trails are monitored and updates are provided as they become available.
Routine maintenance is continuing throughout the Winter Road.
Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signage and use caution when passing machinery on the road.
