Women's basketball playoff bound; men finish strong

Women’s Basketball

After two nail-biting wins over the weekend, the Keyano Huskies women’s basketball team are heading to the ACAC Championships.

The Huskies (15-9) welcomed the (5-19) Kings University Eagles to the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Center for a two-game set.

In game one, the Huskies were lead by a strong third quarter in which they outscored the Eagles by seven points en route to a 57-48 win.

Game two went down to the buzzer when Eagles Reiley Terbasket picked up a foul which sent Moiyan Toure to the line for two free throws.

Toure missed the first from the line but hit the second, and picked up her ninth point of the night which was the difference.

The Huskies will now head to the ACAC women’s basketball Championships in two weeks time when they will battle with the third-place team from the South.

Men’s Basketball

After a tough start to the weekend, the Keyano Huskies men’s basketball team picked up a 93-61 win to cap off the season with a win.

The Huskies (8-16) who have had their fair share of heartbreaks this season, will now head to the offseason and prepare for next season.

In their 82-73 loss in game one, Elie Dondon led the Huskies with 18 points.

In game two, a plethora of Huskies players chipped in offensively, led by Rami Ghanem and his 22 points. Just behind him was Jonathas Michel and his 21 points.
