Residents can now have a better picture of what the spring rebuild will look like.

Members of Planning and Development, the Recovery Task Force and Bylaw Services created the plan and presented it to council on February 21, 2017.

The plan will have Construction Management Teams (CMTs) placed in the neighbourhoods that are rebuilding from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

These teams will be able to educate contractors and residents of the Safety Codes Act, Alberta Building Code, Land Use Bylaw and other Municipal Laws. The teams will also be able to address any concerns from residents, contractors and municipal partners.

There will be a dedicated group of officers that will support the CMT with enforcement of Safety Codes, Bylaw, Development and OH&S.

The proactive work of these teams will maintain the multiple rebuild objectives of the RMWB.

For residents who are applying for a development permit the process should take up to 48 hours if the application is deemed complete.

Following the approval of the development permit the applicant can then apply for a building permit, which could take four to 12 days to be issued.

Planning and development is encouraging residents to ensure their applications are complete so they are not delayed in their rebuild.

The rebuild plan was developed based on the best practices and lessons learned from Slave Lake.
