Fort McMurray's Canadian Cancer Society office will close

On March 31, 2017, the Canadian Cancer Society will close its office in our community due to the way people are accessing cancer information and support, but cancer patients, their caregivers, and families will continue to have full access to the Society’s support services.

The current Canadian Cancer Society office in our community has not been open since October 13, 2016, due to staffing changes.

“More and more people are interacting with CCS online to get the information and support they need to cope with a cancer diagnosis. As such, we have experienced a steady decline in walk-in traffic at our Fort McMurray office over recent years,” says Dan Holinda, Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta/NWT Division. “As online and electronic interactions continue to grow, we realize we can better serve all Canadians living with cancer – including people in the Wood Buffalo region – without needing to rely on bricks and mortar.”
