The Fort McMurray Knights Rugby team is looking for players for the upcoming season.

Whether you’re a first-timer, a seasoned veteran or someone who wants to be a part of something new, you can become not only a part of the Fort McMurray Knights but a part of one of the fastest growing sports in North America.

The Knights play in the Edmonton Rugby Union and the season begins in early May and runs until October.

Before having to cancel their season last year because of the Wildfire, the Knights had their fair share of opportunities of winning the league, and that winning tradition is expected to continue this year. In 2015, the Knights made it to the finals of the second division, which included eight teams from all over Northern Alberta.

“Any rugby club you become a part of, you become a part of a family, and it’s a great opportunity to become a part of the community,” said Dan Huntley, Club President for the Knights. “You can automatically make 50 friends, and it gets you involved in our community, and that’s a big thing in our club.”

Indoor training has already begun for the upcoming season taking place at Shell Place beginning between 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
