Peewee AA

The Fort McMurray Peewee AA Barons won one game over the weekend but lost the most important one as they failed to gain any ground for fourth spot in the North division. Powered by six first period goals, the Barons (9-17-4) crushed the Peace River Integra Colts (0-31) 12-4. A number of players chipped in offensively, but Carter Breen led the way with four goals and one assist.

In game two, the Barons took on the current fourth place Grande Prairie Minhas Trucking Bros Knights and lost a heartbreaker. After giving up five goals in the first period, the Barons stormed back to tie it up and even took the lead early the third period at 6-5. The Trucking Knights then did exactly what the Barons did early in the game, and began their own comeback. The Knights tied up the game just under three minutes later and scored the game-winner with just under 5 minutes left.

With the weekend split, the Barons remain five points behind the Knights for fourth in the Black division.

Bantam AA

Just like the Peewee Barons, the Bantam Barons won their first game but lost the back end of a two-game road trip over the weekend. In game one, Gabe Gratton recorded 28 saves, while Brendan Evans sniped three goals, and added an assist. Game one ended in a 5-0 win for the Barons over SSAC Anderson Hockey.

In game two, the Barons took on St Albert Elite Sportswear Blues who sit in second spot in the Red division. After leading 2-1 after one period, the Barons never led again as the Blues scored three unanswered goals en route to a 4-2 victory.

With two points over the weekend, the Barons have clinched top spot in the North divisionĀ and will await to see who they play in the playoffs.

Midget AA

The Midget AA Barons gave it their best effort over the weekend, but once again found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard. In game one, the Barons took on St Albert Source for Sports Crusaders and fell in a close battle 4-3. In game two, the Barons took on the tough SSAC Lakewood Chevrolet club and fell 4-1.

With both losses, the Barons finished the season with a (5-20-7) record.
