Huskies win Bronze

After dominating the Briercrest Clippers, the Keyano Huskies men’s volleyball team fell in the semifinals of the ACAC Championships over the weekend in Red Deer.

Going into the match, the Huskies were set to take on one of the best teams in Canada in Red Deer College and knew they would have to be at the top of their game. Despite keeping it close, Red Deer found ways pull away at the end of each set in grabbing a 3-0 win.

“We had a few too many errors after 20,” said Keegan Kuhr, Head Coach of the Huskies. “There were a few calls that sort of went the wrong way after 20, but within the whole match we were within two points, so you can’t be too upset, it just didn’t end up going our way.”

The Huskies and Red Deer never played against one another all season long which made it that much harder to gameplan for noted Kuhr. The Huskies then went on to the Bronze Medal match, and despite their tough loss just one night prior, the #3 ranked Huskies came out strong and finished even stronger in grabbing a 3-0 victory to win Bronze.

“I was pretty happy of our guys” said Kuhr. “We have an older group of guys, we’ve had some tough losses over the last couple years, but the way our guys responded, it was nice and great to finish the season with a Bronze medal.”

The Huskies season is now over as only the top two teams in the Championship advance to the National Championships in London.
