O'Leary drops out of Conservative leadership debate in Edmonton

Federal Conservative leadership hopeful Kevin O’Leary is backing out of the next candidate’s debate, claiming the format is bad.

In a statement released Monday morning, O’Leary says he won’t attend Tuesday night’s debate in Edmonton because with 14 people on stage there is little chance to properly explain policies and ideas.

Instead, O’Leary, who is widely considered to be the frontrunner, says he’ll be hosting a fireside discussion in Edmonton for his supporters.

He is quickly being criticized, with some pointing out it is a bilingual debate, and O’Leary has struggled with his French.

One fellow candidate, Lisa Raitt, tweeted a response with just one word, “chicken”.
