On March 10, 2017, the Canadian Brewhouse hosted the “Team Taylor Will Knock Off Cancer” event and it turned out being a tremendous success.

“The fundraiser was absolutely awesome, we gave them $32-thousand dollars on March 23,” Said Dutche Ianetti, President/General Manager of the Fort McMurray Giants. “A lot of sponsors stepped up, gave us some silent auction prizes, and we purchased some, but when it was all said and done, $32-thousand was given to the Sterner family.”

Some of the prizes that were up grabs were a signed Taylor Hall jersey, Magic Johnson signed jersey, Jose Bautista signed jersey, and much more.

Hundreds of people packed the Brewhouse on March 10 to show their support for Taylor as he battles on his road to recovery.

“It meant a lot , especially to see all the support and how many family and friends came out,” Said Taylor Sterner. “It was great to see how many people came just because I was a sports player in Fort McMurray.”

Taylor is now in remission but faces a long path to recovery with the uncertainty of what lays ahead in his future.

“I have another pet scan coming up and it’s been rough, not knowing what lays ahead and the scary days of chemotherapy, but family and friends kept pushing me through telling me I would kick cancer and that pushed me through.” Said Sterner.
