Early April always seems to be a wonderful time of year for sports fans. Although most fans spend most of their time in front of a TV as they watch March Madness, and the Masters, workers at the Miskanaw Golf Club have been working diligently to give residents a chance to hit the tee.
That work has paid off, as residents will officially be able to hit the tee on April 14 when the club opens the back nine of the golf course.
“We’re very excited to open the back nine at Miskanaw Golf Club next week,” said Rob MacGregor, PGA of Canada Director of Golf at the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “With the beautiful weather, the course is already looking fantastic and we are so excited to welcome our members and players back to the course for another great year of golf. Weather permitting, we are preparing to open the front nine on April 21 as we celebrate the beginning of the season in Fort McMurray.”
Fee’s beginning April 14 until further notice will be $79.00 for 18 holes, and does include cart and taxes. Full beverage cart service will also be available.
Residents will be able to book tee times from 9:30 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. (subject to possible morning frost delays). For more information and tee time bookings, you can call the Sly Fox Pro Shop at 780-790-1812 beginning on Monday, April 10 at 8:00 a.m.
In anticipation of the opening of the course, the final day of operations at the Miskanaw Golf Club Indoor Golf Simulators will be Tuesday, April 11.
“As we close out the indoor simulator season, on Sunday, April 9 we will be hosting the Miskanaw Golf Club Masters Sunday Viewing Party in the Fireside Room at the Suncor Community Leisure Centre, as well as presenting the prizes for our Simulator League participants from this past winter,” said MacGregor. “We hope golf fans and players will join us for a day of Golf Simulator contests and to enjoy the live coverage of the world’s best golfers.”
