Two separate Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) investigations have led to the arrest of six people and about a kilogram and a half of cocaine seized in Fort McMurray.

Between the investigations ALERT and the Fort McMurray Gang Team confiscated nearly $150-thousand worth of cocaine.

“The amount of cocaine seized in these two investigations is significant for a safe community like Fort McMurray,” said Insp. David Dubnyk of ALERT. “Along with getting a gun off the street, these arrests will benefit community safety.”

On May 3, 2017 a home was searched on Manning Avenue where 612 grams of crack cocaine, one kilogram of a cocaine buffing agent and $2-thousand cash.

Mohamed Omar, 24-years old and Bayan Idris, 27-years old of Fort McMurray have both been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The other investigation on May 9, 2017 had ALERT carry out search warrants at two Timberlea homes and a vehicle.

They seized a shotgun, 860 grams of cocaine and $10-thousand cash.
