The Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club are ready to host Summer Camps from July 4 until September 1.
“Summer Camp at Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club provides a fun and interactive experience for campers of various ages. Our programming accommodates children from 4.5-12 years with relevant activities and fun in the sun,” Said Courtney Sovdi, Youth & Volunteer Engagement Manager. “We provide educational fun science-related experiments, arts, and crafts, physical outlet, opportunities for reading and quiet time, as well as tons of free time to run around and play while under supervision from FMBGC staff.”
The camps run Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. with full week camps costing just $225.00 for non-members, and $200.00 for members of the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club.
Daily passes are also available for $90.00 for non-members, and $75.00 for members. A one-time registration fee of $20.00 will apply to all fees.
The camps feature themed weeks, and each morning at 7:00 a.m., the kids meet at the Fort McMurray Boys and Girls Club at 20 Riedel Street.
From there, numerous activities will take place at the club, plus several field trips will take place throughout the course of the summer.
“The kids will have plenty of field trips included in the camps, such as Gregoire Lake with transportation provided by Diversified for every second Friday, various water parks (like Borealis) and dry parks (school parks like Dr. Clark), nature walks, trips to MacDonald Island to their indoor park, pool, and library,” Said Sovdi. “We are also working on having our older campers (ages 7-12) volunteer at local organizations such as but not limited to the Food Bank. This promotes a level of responsibility, community-mindedness, and exposure in a safe and protected environment.
