Stockpiling site available for soil from wildfire-damaged properties

Last Updated May 23, 2017 at 5:15 am MDT

Beginning on Saturday, May 20 at 8 a.m., excavated soil from properties damaged in last May’s wildfire will be stockpiled in Abrams Land.

The site is located at the rear southwest corner of Abrams Land and is accessible on the west side of Thickwood Boulevard across from Dickins Drive.

To assure that all the soil is from wildfire-damaged properties, contractors will be required to sign a declaration form to confirm the soil is from the right properties.

By taking this action, the quantity of rebuild-related material that enters the Regional Landfill will be significantly reduced.

Soil from properties that were not damaged by the wildfire, must be taken to the Regional Landfill, where it will be subject to disposal guidelines set out in the Utility Rates Bylaw No. 10/001.

If your property is wildfire-damaged and you paid fees at the Landfill for acceptable soil that was taken there, those fees will be refunded, and you can find the refund application at rmwb.ca/soilfeewaiver.

Additional information about soil stockpiling is available by calling recovery@rmwb.ca, or by calling the PULSE Line at 780-743-7000.
