For the first time in four years, Heritage Village will reopen this summer.

The exhibits inside the village have not been operating since the 2013 floods when multiple buildings on site were damaged, with a lot of dedication, rebuilding efforts, support staff and volunteers the village is able to open this summer.

The Fort McMurray Heritage Society wrote in a press release that the village at 1 Tolen Drive would be opening with fully redesigned exhibits.

There are 17 buildings throughout the village, some over 100 years old. Visitors will be able to explore the various buildings and learn who helped assemble our community.

Fort McMurray has a rich history and Heritage Village is a way to celebrate the past.

They will host their grand re-opening on July 1, 2017 with a Canada 150 Multicultural Summer Festival.
