Giants Catcher Josh Iannetti takes off for second base in a home game against the Yorkton Cardinals at Shell Place

The Fort McMurray Giants are set to host the Edmonton Prospects in the team’s home opener on Tuesday down at Shell Place with first pitch set for 7:35 p.m.

“It feels awesome to be surrounded by these great guys on the Giants team,” said Josh Iannetti, Catcher on the Fort McMurray Giants. “It’s my second year now as a Giant and it’s just as nerve racking as the first game last year, but as a team, we are strong and are going make a big impact this year.”

The Giants (0-3) are coming off three tough losses over the weekend against the Lethbridge Bulls and will look to win their first game of the young WMBL season against the (1-1) Edmonton Prospects.

“The one word I could use is hungry, the guys got a taste of what the competition is like in this league over the weekend. We competed with one of the powerhouse teams in this league [Lethbridge Bulls] and the year is looking up for us this season,” said Iannetti. “Our game plan for tonight is to win every inning pitch by pitch. As a team, we can swing the bat and if we take care of the baseball we should come out with the win.”

Tuesday night is game one, of a five-game homestand for the Giants before hitting the road for two games against the same Prospects next week.

Tickets for Tuesday’s Giants game, and every single Giants game this season can be purchased online at Giants Tickets, or at the Shell Place Box Office.
