Dan Critch of Father Mercredi became the second player in the Trapper’s football program in a two-week span to sign on to play in the Canadian Junior Football League.

Critch will play in the Prairie Football Conference for the Edmonton Wildcats this upcoming season.

“This means a lot. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the football field,” said Dan Critch. “I’m also looking forward to meeting some new friends, and living in Edmonton.”

Critch, who is 6 foot 4, 260 pounds and plays offensive tackle will join a Wildcats team (0-9) who will be looking for improved success this season after a dreadful 2016 campaign.

“I’ve done a lot of work in the gym the past few years,” Said Critch. “I only joined Football in grade 10, so I’ve had to work that much harder to get where I am now.”

Critch was a part of the Father Mercredi Trappers football team this past season when the team won the City Championships over Holy Trinity.

Critch served as a Captain on the Trappers and won linemen of the year in the 2015/2016 season.

“It was an honour to be a captain, I loved the team and helping be one of the leaders was special,” said Critch. “To be the lineman of the year was very rewarding. It showed that all of my work wasn’t going unnoticed.”

The Wildcats open up their 2017 regular season against the Calgary Colts on August 12, in Calgary at 1:00 p.m.
