New hands-on programming will be offered at Greely Road Public School for the 2017/18 school year.

Greely Road will be the first in Fort McMurray to offer STEAM programming to kindergarten students.

STEAM, which means Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The programming will be front and centre in the classroom and give children the opportunity to develop their creative talents, while learning about coding, 3D printing and more.

Samantha Quarterman is Greely Road’s Kindergarten teachers and she believe incorporating the elements of STEAM will give students a hands-on learning approach.

“Each child starts out as a natural-born scientist. They want answers to those “why” questions and love to learn how things work in the world around them,” added Quarterman.
