Setting up a double-header on Thursday at Shell Place which the Giants would take game one, 3-2 and lose game two, 7-5.

Game One

In game one, it was the Alex Nolan show for the Giants. Nolan took a perfect game into the seventh and seemed to be on cruise control.

In the bottom half of the seventh, the Giants scored one to tie it up at two, and it stayed that way until the bottom of the ninth.

In the bottom of the ninth, Mr.Patience, Hector Benitez drew a walk with the bases loaded that drove in the winning run as the Fort McMurray Giants won 3-2.

Alex Nolan, who was credited with a no-decision, pitched eight innings. Trevor Bauer came into relieve Nolan and shut the door to get the win.

Game Two

After being held to just two runs in game one, the Medicine Mavericks busted out in a big way in game two, and it began in the top of the first with Caleb Longley. Longley sent a shot out of the ballpark over 400 feet as the Mavericks took a 2-0 lead.

The Giants scored one in the bottom of the first to trail 2-1.

From there, the Mavericks scored five unanswered runs to take a 7-1 lead, but those five were the final runs the Mavericks would score.

The Giants staged a comeback which included three runs in the bottom of the sixth off a two-RBI ground rule double from Max Hewitt, followed by one run in the bottom of the seventh.

That was it, however as the Fort McMurray Giants scored no more as they dropped game two, 7-5 as the Medicine Hat Mavericks retained their three-game lead for fourth place in the Western Division of the WMBL.
