The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) will be removing more hazardous trees throughout the summer.

This work follows the hazardous tree removal project that was completed this spring in Abasand, Beacon Hill, Thickwood, Wood Buffalo and Waterways.

After being identified by residents additional hazardous trees will be removed where possible, by hand, and in most areas, no new mulch will be created.

The trees will be inspected by forestry experts before they are removed, every effort is being made to preserve the natural forested area.

The work will take place in:

  • Abasand – near Arsenault Crescent and Athabasca Avenue
  • Waterways – near Pearson Drive and Ptarmigan Park
  • Grayling Terrace – behind Goodwin Place, Gipsy Place and Garson Place
  • Wood Buffalo – behind J.W. Mann Drive
  • Anzac – near the Anzac Recreation Centre

Removing hazardous trees will keep the community safe and allow the forest to regrow.

More than 76,000 seedlings have already been planted in areas where hazardous tree removal has happened.
