Residents will soon be able to monkey around on some new playground equipment!

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is working to replace and repair the playgrounds that were damaged during the 2016 wildfire.

Work will be taking place in Abasand, Beacon Hill, Waterways, Wood Buffalo, Stone Creek and Eagle Ridge. They are expecting it to be complete by Oct. 2017.

There will be upgrades to some of the play structures and all of the playgrounds will be accessible for all play abilities.

All of the affected parks will remain closed until work is complete.

The replacement and repairs of these parks are covered through the Municipality’s insurance, there is no additional cost.

Repairs have already been completed at the Ecole Boreal Playground in Abasand and the Belgian Green Playground in Prairie Creek.
