Mainstreet survey shows Albertans back the UCP

The newly minted United Conservative Party appears to be a hit among voters.

In a survey of some 2,100 Albertans, Mainstreet Research found that if an election were held today, the UCP would win, in a landslide.

Mainstreet President Quito Maggi said 57 per cent of decided voters would support the party merged from the Wildrose and Progressive Conservative parties.

“Whether or not that holds post leadership, it’s too early to tell,” Maggi noted, “but certainly if you’re Jason Kenny or Brian Jean or a United Conservative Party supporter in Alberta, you are going to be very happy with these numbers.”

The NDP still enjoys 29 per cent of decided voter support, up five points from the last poll in April.
