Fort McMurray Forest Area under fire advisory

Alberta Agriculture and Forestry have issued a fire advisory for the Fort McMurray Forest Area.

The wildfire danger throughout the region is very high and warm temperatures reaching 29 degrees or above are expected throughout the next few days.

Under the advisory, all existing permits are cancelled, including burn barrels, and no new permits will be issued.

You are still able to use the following under the advisory:

  • Safe wood campfires in campgrounds (within fire rings) or random camping areas
  • Charcoal briquettes
  • Portable propane fire pits
  • Gas or propane stoves and barbecues
  • Catalytic or infrared-style heaters

 

You also being reminded to check your Off-Highway Vehicles for any debris before and after use.
