Chris Flett is no longer seeking a ward one council seat.
On Friday, Flett released on his Facebook page that he was suspending his municipal campaign because he had been elected Business Manager of IUOE Local 955.
“I would not, both personally and professionally feel right if I were to continue to campaign for a position that I could not commit to fully. This decision was a particularly hard one as I care so deeply for my community and the future of it,” the Facebook post went on to say.
Flett originally announced his candidacy back in April and was running on a platform that focused on Bill 21, hiring local workers and prioritizing core services and infrastructure.
Nomination day for the election is Sept. 18, election day is Oct. 16.
