A youth-led non-profit in the region is receiving a boost from the Canada 150 Fund.
Sekweha is in Janvier and provides a safe and empowering place for youth.
The funds will go towards their Experiential Learning Program, which is in collaboration with the Sustainable Communities Initiative (SCI).
The program is a year-round, land-based initiative that supports learning by doing.
Youth from the community work with Elders, other community members and schools to learn and practice their traditional ways of life. It also attempts to merge local culture into school courses.
Sekweha is hosting the Experiential Learning Gathering for all members of the RMWB on August 20-23 at Little Big Lake in Janvier.
There will be free workshops and sessions, traditional food and more.
