Half Marathon celebrates 5 years of running

On your mark, get set, go!

The Fort McMurray Half Marathon celebrated five years of running on Sept. 17.

“This year it seemed only fitting to introduce a new route that took participants through the TOTAL Aboriginal Interpretive Trail, across the river and through part of the amazing trail system on the north side of Fort McMurray,” said Kelsey Stefanizyn, half marathon organizing committee event chair and sales and events senior manager of the RRC. “From the very beginning five years ago, the Fort McMurray Half Marathon has been about providing a fantastic experience for our participants, and this year we celebrated five years of great running through a new route for a fresh and exciting experience.”

The run includes a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km races.

The top-place finishers this year was:

Half Marathon:
First Place, Male – Bryan Adams (1:32:43)
First Place, Female – Olga Rodriguez (1:37:56)

10 km:
First Place, Male – Darrell Vickers (00:46:37)
First Place, Female – Erin Hibbitts (00:47:41)

5 km:
First Place, Male – Chris Russell (00:24:12)
First Place, Female – Mebrat Yaynu (00:26:20)

3 km:
First Place, Male – Blake Schedlosky (00:14:43)
First Place, Female – Emma Schedlosky (00:16:20)
