Man arrested on extradition warrant

A man arrested in Fort McMurray was wanted on an extradition warrant for terrorism-related offences and a Canadian charge of robbery.

Simon Rivet, a media spokesperson with the Department of Justice Canada wrote in an email that “the United States has sought the extradition of Abdullahi Ahmed Abdullahi for prosecution for terrorism-related offences”.

Abdullahi was arrested on Sept. 14 by the RCMP.

He appeared before the Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton on Friday, he remains in custody until Oct. 13 to set a date for an extradition hearing.
