Girls Inc. announces 4th nominee for Women of Inspiration series

The 4th nominee for the Women of Inspiration series has been announced by Girls Inc.

Patricia Flett was born and raised in Fort Chipewyan and has dedicated her life to serving her community.

Flett has served on several boards and councils in the region, including the Fort Chipewyan Metis Association, Keyano College Further Education Council and the Nunee Health Authority, among many others.

In the 1990’s, Flett played an important role in programs that helped find opportunities for Fort McKay community members to reach their full potential.

She was also the first female volunteer firefighter on the Fort Chipewyan Fire Department, which lead to the first team of women firefighters in the community.

Flett’s passion for community has lead to international success, bringing back traditional sport in our region.

She oversaw and accomplished a successful Arctic Sports Division of Inuit and Dene Games with the 2004 Arctic Winter Games.

Girls Inc. of Northern Alberta and Syncrude will honour Flett and 11 other nominees at the Women of Inspiration Celebration in June 2018.

The Women of Inspiration recognizes women across RMWB who inspire others, break new ground and help create change.
