Three Fort McMurray men will receive the highest award for volunteers presented in Canada.

Scott Germain, Brad Grainger and Ryan Pitchers will each be presented a Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers from the Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday in Edmonton.

The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes volunteer achievements of individuals in a wide range of fields.

Scott Germain has worked with the Fort McMurray Fire Department for 10 years. He sits on the fire department’s charity committee and coordinates the Rooftop Campout campaign, which raises more than $40,000 each year.

Brad Grainger is being recognized for his work as a medical volunteer. He has served on the board of directors for the local HERO Air Medivac Foundation and the James Banting Foundation.

Ryan Pitchers has been a volunteer for almost 30 years, helping raise close to $100,000 annually for the region.
