CAREERexpo RMWB helps students chart their career paths

More than 800 high school students in the region will be learning about career opportunities in our regionĀ on Thursday, Oct. 19.

CAREERexpo RMWB is hosted by CAREERS: The Next Generation, in partnership with Keyano College to give students the chance to learn about career opportunities available in the RMWB.

Students will head to Syncrude Sport and Wellness Centre to connect with local future employers and representatives from various university, college and technical institutions.

Not only will students get to speak one-on-one with mentors, there will also be interactive displays and career simulators.

Carmen Wyton, Vice President, Stakeholder Relations of CAREERS: The Next Generation, says this isn’t an ordinary job fair.

“We encourage every one of our exhibitors to actually create a real career experience.”

Featuring representation from over 50 career pathway occupations, students will have the opportunity to learn about entry into the workforce and continuous learning.

“Health will be there, trades will be there, there will be information in communication technology. There’s often things like human services.”

CAREERS: The Next Generation provides awareness, exploration and experience to encourage youth to discover career passion in trades, technologies, health and occupations in high demand.

“Now more than ever, we want young people to know that there is a promising future in Fort McMurray. They can stay there, they can learn there, earn there and live there for life.”

CAREERexpo RMWB is the largest student-focused career information event in the region.
