The Royal Bank of Canada Foundation is supporting the second and final year of a pilot program that supports children, youth and young adults in the RMWB that are suffering with mental health illnesses.

The Northern Lights Health Foundation announced that RBC presented a gift of $100,000, which will support the Alberta Health Services Youth Mental Health Navigator Position.

Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the Northern Lights Health Foundation says the Youth Mental Health Navigator is a unique position.

“The navigator is a strong advocate for patients and families in helping them access appropriate resources.”

The program, which is at the end of it’s two year pilot period, has already shown impact on children, youth and families.

“Feedback from people who have been helped by the navigator has been extremely positive.”

Since 2002 RBC has been a valuable supporter of the Northern Lights Health Foundation, which provides funds to support health care priorities within the RMWB.

“This project will help many young people suffering with mental illnesses get access to the most appropriate care when and where they need it most.”

The RBC Youth Mental Health Project has provided more than $34 million to organizations dedicated to helping kids and families get the programs and resources they need.

Alberta Health Services hopes to make the position permanent at the end of 2018.
