Two Remembrance Day ceremonies will be held on Saturday.

The main ceremony will be at Mac Island and a smaller version will be coinciding at the Royal Canadian Legion in Waterways.

“When it comes to posting of the Cenotaph Guard, laying of the wreaths and moment of silence that is all going to happen at the same time. A lot of the preamble portion will be broadcast from Mac Island to the legion itself,” said Royal Canadian Legion President, Pat Duggan.

The remembrance service and message will start at approximately 10:30-10:40 a.m., seating at Mac Island will start at 8:30 a.m.

Second Vice President of the legion Mike Grey says the day brings fellow Veterans together.

“In 2017 the day is still relevant. It is just as important today as it has always been. For most the vets in this town you’re working almost every day of the year, different shifts and whatnot but doesn’t seem to matter, some guys would rather work through the holidays but Remembrance Day we’ve got to have it off,” said Grey.

“You find that we’ve been in this town for how long and there is guys from our units or from abroad that we deployed with, been here in our own back yard and you catch up.”

Following the ceremony everyone is invited back to the legion for chili, performances from youth groups and to view the displays.
