Infrastructure Minister Jansen re-affirmed at meeting with Don Scott and Councillors Balsom, Lalonde, Peddle and Stroud that the Willow Square Continuing Care Centre is moving ahead as planned.

At the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties (AAMDC) annual convention in Edmonton Jansen announced the project will include:

  • Design-to-build RFP deadline of December 15
  • Tender to be awarded by the end of January 2018
  • Construction to begin in the spring of 2018

Plans for the facility include a total 144 beds for long-term care.

Mayor Scott says the meeting went extremely well.

“This Council is actively working on issues that are important to our residents and this care facility is a top priority, especially for our seniors.”

During the AAMDC convention, the Mayor and Councillors also had the opportunity to raise the issue of the Aging in Place facility at Willow Square with both the Seniors and Housing Minister Sigurdson and Minister of Health, Deputy Premier Hoffman.
