Alberta Health Services(AHS) is notifying families whose children attend a daycare in Fort McMurray, along with staff who work there, that they may have been exposed to a case of tuberculosis(TB).
This is neither a risk to the general public, or an ongoing risk to daycare staff or attendees. Only those notified by AHS are considered exposed to this case.
AHS is informing the public of the case as a matter of transparency and are working together with their TB Services, Communicable Disease Control Teams and their Medical Officer of Health and pediatric clinicians to complete the routine follow-up screening.

The name of the impacted daycare will not be released by AHS to protect patient and family confidentiality.
All the impacted daycare attendees and staff are being notified directly and there is no risk to others.
